Layer 2 - Answer Control

Answer-layer restructuring: formatting pages so AI can quote them.

AI systems do not just link to pages - they extract, summarise, and quote specific content. Pages structured for human reading are often poorly structured for AI extraction. Answer-layer restructuring rewrites key pages so AI systems can lift accurate, specific answers directly from them. VERIS is an AI search infrastructure specialist for independent service businesses.

The Problem

AI systems are paraphrasing your pages badly.

AI Overviews, ChatGPT responses, and Perplexity answers do not quote a page in full. They extract the facts and passages most relevant to the query and surface them in a synthesised answer. If those facts are buried in paragraphs, spread across multiple sections, or framed in marketing language, the extraction is imprecise - and imprecise extraction produces inaccurate AI descriptions of the business.

The problem is structural. Pages written for human readers use narrative flow, paragraph context, and implicit meaning. AI extraction systems prefer explicit, self-contained statements: "Check-in is at 3:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM" rather than "After your relaxing day of arrival, we invite you to settle into your room in the afternoon."

Answer-layer restructuring does not rewrite the entire website. It identifies the 3-5 pages most likely to be queried by AI systems and restructures the content on those pages to be extraction-ready. The brand voice is preserved. The structure changes.

48%

of all Google queries showed AI Overviews in March 2026. When so many searches now surface answer-style results, pages need to state facts clearly enough to be extracted accurately.

What Gets Implemented

Extraction-ready structure on your highest-value pages.

1
Page audit for AI extractability

3-5 key pages reviewed for answer density, explicit vs implicit statements, heading structure clarity, and self-contained sentence construction.

2
Answer-first restructuring

Key pages rewritten so the most extractable facts appear near the top of each section. Marketing preamble is moved below or removed from answer-critical content.

3
Structured policy and operational content

Hours, prices, cancellation policies, and key procedures rewritten as explicit, standalone statements rather than narrative prose.

4
Heading hierarchy optimisation

H1, H2, and H3 tags reviewed so headings are specific and queryable, not vague or generic.

5
Entity anchoring

Every key page explicitly identifies the business name, location, and category near the top.

ANSWER-LAYER EXAMPLEtext
BEFORE (marketing prose): "Nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, our property
offers guests an unforgettable experience with world-class amenities
and unparalleled service throughout their stay."

AFTER (extraction-ready): "The Grove Inn is an 18-room boutique hotel in Asheville, North Carolina.
Check-in is at 3: 00 PM. Check-out is at 11: 00 AM. Free on-site parking.
Pets welcome with prior approval."

Note: The "after" example is direct, factual, and extractable.
AI systems can quote every sentence independently.
Scope Boundary

What this service does not include.

  • Complete website content rewrites or brand copy overhauls
  • New page creation
  • Blog post writing or content marketing
  • Image or video production
  • Translation services
  • Pages beyond the agreed 3-5 key pages (additional pages = additional scope)
How To Verify This

How to test your page's extractability.

Paste your homepage URL into Perplexity (perplexity.ai, free) and ask: "What is [Your Business Name] and what do they offer?" Compare the answer to what your homepage actually says. If Perplexity misquotes, omits key facts, or describes the business inaccurately, that is an extraction problem. After restructuring, the same query should return accurate, specific answers that match the page content.

Step 1: Ask "What is [Business Name] and what do they offer?" Step 2: Note what is accurate, inaccurate, or missing. Step 3: Compare to your homepage content to identify extraction gaps.

Need a route, not just a service?

Check whether answer-layer work is actually the next step.

Some sites need Layer 1 first, others are ready for answer extraction. Use the planner to route the audit properly before buying the wrong service.

Add the live site if you want the audit form prefilled. Leave it blank if you only want the route recommendation.

Suggested route

Full Setup for Other service business.

This planner does not promise commercial outcomes. It routes the site into the most likely VERIS starting path based on business type, site complexity, and goal.

How this works

This is the optional routing step. If you continue from here, VERIS carries the URL and planner context into the full audit form below so you do not have to start over.

Typical next step
Start with the audit, then confirm pricing and service order.
  • vLikely implementation tier: Full Setup.
  • vSingle-location sites are usually priced by page-count and CMS complexity.
  • vBecause the goal is better extraction and quoting, Layer 2 services are likely relevant after the foundation.
